NEAR2 final project meeting and final conference 20th – 22nd October 2014 in Moscow

The final NEAR2 Project Meeting took place on the 20th of October, 2014 in Moscow Russia at the Holiday Inn Hotel. All project partners participated as well as several members of the Advisory Board. The Chair of Rail Vehicles of TU Berlin was represented by Prof. Markus Hecht and Philipp Krause. The discussion that took place included the next steps towards the finalization of the project, the pending deliverables and the reporting to take place after the end of the project. Following, an open to external experts session took place, during which the project publication was discussed and comments were made on its current structure and content.

The NEAR2 Final Conference itself took place on the 21st of October, 2014 in Moscow, Russia at the Holiday Inn Hotel. The participants included all project partners, several of the Advisory Board members, as well as plenty of accredited experts coming both from the rail research community and the relevant industry. The conference aimed to disseminate the results achieved throughout the course of the project and to continue the ongoing discussion on the problems and prospects of the Trans Eurasian railway corridors. The presentations made were categorized in two sessions, the first one being "Europe-Russia-Asia Rail Policy Issues" and the second one being "The views of experts on the use of the Eurasian Railway Corridors". On the following day, a site visit took place at the terminal of Kuntsevo of Moscow.
